After Ghee Coffee, Ghee Tea Is Trending On The Internet, Know Its Benefits

After the rise in popularity of ghee coffee for weight loss, ghee tea is now trending online. Many social media users have suggested adding a dollop of ghee to your cup of tea for better health. It’s being praised as a superfood for gut health, period relief, and constipation. Ghee tea is a combination of ghee and traditional tea, such as black or herbal. The ghee adds a creamy flavour to the tea. Ghee contains healthy fats, vitamins and beneficial compounds, while tea leaves contain a large amount of polyphenols. Together, they create a soothing drink that may help improve digestive health.

Dietitian Shilpa Arora has shared a video on Instagram recommending this drink to treat constipation. She prepares regular tea by boiling 1 tsp of tea leaves in a cup of water. After straining the tea into a glass, she adds 1 tbsp of ghee and mixes it. In the video, Shilpa also mentions that this is an old Ayurvedic recipe that is known for helping with constipation.

Benefits of ghee:

Ghee adds a rich, creamy texture and nutty aroma to your tea, making it a more potent beverage. The best time to enjoy ghee tea is in the morning. Adding ghee to your tea offers several benefits:

1. Ghee’s high-calorie content acts as a filler. Drinking ghee tea in the morning can help curb your hunger and support weight loss. It also aids in more effective fat metabolism.

3. You can substitute sugar and milk with ghee, transforming your morning drink into a rich, flavourful beverage that helps prevent mood swings.

4. Adding ghee to your tea can provide a boost of energy to your system. Including ghee tea in your morning routine will enhance your workout experience and help you avoid feeling drained afterwards.

5. Adding ghee to your tea supplies butyrate, as ghee contains butyric acid which reduces inflammation of stomach cells. Ghee tea can help regulate bowel movements and alleviate issues like constipation or irritable bowel syndrome (IBS).

6. Ghee is a natural moisturiser that can keep your skin hydrated. It is rich in vitamin A which stimulates collagen production for supple skin, especially in winter.

7. The antioxidants and essential fatty acids in ghee also help strengthen the immune system which enhances the body’s ability to fight off infections.

8. Ghee acts as a prebiotic that helps to balance the gut’s pH and microbiome. This supports bone and joint health and can help prevent joint pain and bone breakdown.

While the benefits of ghee are proven, make sure to consult a healthcare practitioner before introducing anything in your routine.
