If you were to plan a beach vacation, you would naturally think of a seashore or oceanfront location, like Goa or the Andaman and Nicobar Islands. But do you know there is a ‘hidden beach’ in the landlocked state of Uttar Pradesh that offers a similarly enchanting experience?
Nestled amid the Pilibhit Tiger Reserve and Chuka Forest, this beach offers pleasant landscapes, rich biodiversity, and a blue water lagoon to make your vacation memorable.
Chuka Beach is a riverside beach formation that came into existence during the evolution of the Sharda Dam project. Away from the crowds, this place is serene, full of wildlife, and budget-friendly. Whether you are a solo adventurer, a wildlife photographer, or a birdwatcher, this away-from-the crowd place will leave you in awe.
According to reports, the place lay neglected for years and the Yogi Adityanath government initiated concrete steps to develop it into a tourist destination.
This place is well-connected by road and air transport. You can drive to the entrance of Pilibhit Tiger Reserve or take public transport to reach there.
If you are planning to travel by air, you can take a flight to Lucknow, from where you have to make a five to six-hour journey by road.
Once you reach Pilibhit Tiger Reserve on the Madhotanda-Khatima road, you will need to book a safari to reach Chuka Beach, as private vehicles are not allowed inside the tiger reserve.
If you are planning to stay in this less-explored and beautiful destination, you can book your stay in advance through the website of UP tourism or Pilibhit Tiger Reserve.
There are seven forest rest houses available in different ranges under the tiger reserve. As many as four Tharu huts and one tree house are also available for tourists. The prices start from about Rs 5,000 and go up according to the room you choose.
Although this place remains open throughout the year, April to October is considered the best time to experience the beauty of this place at its best.
Apart from the beach, there are many sites nearby where you can spend time with birds, enjoy natural views, and peace under the open sky. You can also spot giant cats and other species in the tiger reserve. A safari ride is one of the major attractions of this place, allowing you to explore this great combination of lush green forests and tranquil waters.
