British singer and songwriter Dua Lipa is one of the most well known pop-stars in the current generation. In addition to her love for the arts, Dua has a penchant for a healthy lifestyle. With album releases and consecutive shows, the Albanian singer views being fit as a way of life rather than merely a medical need. While her holistic approach to health and wellbeing may not be conventional, it is full of energy and will leave you feeling rejuvenated and motivated.
Dua Lipa believes that it’s important to identify your body’s needs and find the exercise routine that works best for you. Talking about her own fitness routine, the singer revealed that her workout regimen includes a combination of high-intensity workouts, walks, mountain climbers, burpees, yoga, pilates, and boxing. On the days when she needs a little more encouragement to get into the gym, she includes her friends in the mix. On days when Dua Lipa is short on time, she tries to squeeze in a 15-minute HIIT workout at the start of her day. The singer said in an interview with Viva magazine, “I love doing something that’s really fast and quick, like a 15-minute HIIT session, which I can do before I start my day.”
When her schedule allows, Dua Lipa likes to mix up her workouts. The singer added that she loves to include a variety of exercises in her routine such as mountain climbers, jumping jacks, and burpees to keep herself interested in working out. She also enjoys doing yoga, pilates, boxing, and spinning. Mixing up your workouts has been shown to help in weight reduction and fat loss. It also increases flexibility, reduces the chances of injuries, raises metabolism and reduces boredom.
Dua Lipa finds that boxing is a great way to help her decompress. When she needs clarity, she also enjoys walking her dog. The singer told Beauty Crew, “I love boxing in my spare time. I like doing it for fitness [and] I like doing it just to kinda clear my mind. I really enjoy it. I like that it’s definitely a full-body workout. Since starting boxing, I’ve probably been in the best shape ever. It’s also a great stress reliever.”
It’s impossible to stay motivated every day, no matter how passionate you are about fitness. For a little inspiration on these days, Dua Lipa works out with her fitness buddies—who aren’t always personal trainers. She said in an interview with Refinery29, “Whether it’s on Zoom, doing a workout with my friend Ella in L.A., who leads a kick-ass workout class called Sculpt With Ella, or with my best friend Bunny who comes over to train me on days when I’m feeling super lazy and need someone to get me motivated, getting physical really starts my day off right.”
In addition to maintaining a rigorous exercise regime, Dua Lipa enjoys eating healthy as seen by her love of eggs for breakfast and the range of fruits she includes in her diet. Before working out, she eats a banana and cashew butter. For lunch, she enjoys a chicken salad with lots of vegetables and chilled juice.
